I will be closing my eBay store, this month, marking the 4th Anniversary of my eBay store. I may occasionally list an item, but of course my website www.OldGlorySoldiers.com and Etsy store www.OldGlorySoldier.etsy.com , plus other marketplace ventures will remain open.

eBay has steered away from providing a true feedback system, not allowing a buyer to determine if a seller is providing good customer service and on the other hand - not allowing a seller to provide accurate feedback for a customer.

The definition of feedback implies a reciprocal relationship - eBay is using the word feedback, but not the definition, giving the false impression of a "real" and "safe" marketplace, when in fact it is a money maker for those sitting in the big chairs; lining their wallets with the buyers and sellers money.

Buyers don't fool yourselves. The higher the costs to the sellers, the higher the end cost to you!

The Tale of the Beverly Hillbilly - eBay Buyer Requests Seller to Commit Fraud

In the beginning, the Beverly Hillbilly claimed that the USPS lost packages and had problems delivering to his address; so items had to be signed for. He was given the option of UPS Ground as the standard shipping method listed was USPS Priority and the rates were reasonably comparable.

Item is shipped and signed for and a week goes by. Then the Beverly Hillbilly contacts seller to state that sign is damaged. Since sign was signed for, there is proof of date of delivery and signature. Seller wonders why Beverly Hillbilly took so long; maybe he doesn't realize that damaged package should be reported immediately. He states that he worked for UPS in past and it would have been used as a frisbee. So apparently he understood UPS procedures and it just took that long for him to decide that he wanted another great Original by Old Glory Soldiers.

Beverly Hillbilly states would have been good to put item in box to ship instead of industrial bubble wrap, layers of industrial heavy paper; and heavy packaging tape. Sellers states that a UPS provided box for upgraded shipping charge would have been an option of course, but Beverly Hillbilly chose cheaper option. Unfortunately, shippers don't make the rules, we just follow them.

The seller offers to replace item with proof, which the Beverly Hillbilly never provides. The seller also offers additional shipping options with the "free" shipping supplies from the carrier the Beverly Hillbilly wanted to use; but he never indicated any interested in $30 plus dollars for those UPS "free" shipping supplies that he wanted to use so bad.

Next--- If the Beverly Hillbilly can't get the seller to defraud UPS, then ...
The Beverly Hillbilly buyer asks the seller to commit fraud by using US Postal supplies to package and ship UPS items.

The Beverly Hillbilly buyer tries to defraud the carrier by making an unsupported claim; and refusing to make the item available for inspection.

The Beverly Hillbilly buyer then leaves false feedback. So the seller decides to warn all potential victims so they aren't FAST victims on this TRACK.

Moral: Don't let a greedy Beverly Hillbilly convince you to break the law or lower your morals for the sake of making a sale or preventing a red dot ... otherwise you may find yourself in a jumper sharing a cell with them.

Here are some pictures from the Disney Parks, Dowtown Disney, and Busch Gardens. We haven't finished loading them all yet, as we take pictures of everything.

We stayed at the Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort. I would recommend you check it out if you are visiting the Orlando area, it is adjacent to Epcot, and offers shuttle service to Disney parks and Downtown Disney; and is absolutely gorgeous.

Celebrating Our Country All Year Long

Happy Fourth of July! To me this is a time of Honoring those that have sacrificed and continue to do so .... a time of remembering what Our Country was founded on ....

As an Army Brat, I was raised with Red, White, Blue, and Green, all year long! We didn't put our flags out for special occasions, or shop to buy those special Red, White, and Blue crafts for those times either. It was a way of life.

It is something that as an Army Spouse, I still do today. Everyday, I Celebrate My Country! And my house is Red, White, Blue, Colonial, and Primitive! I think the Colonial and Primitive, are an obvious compliment to Americana decor, as they share the same love of Family, God, and Country. They shared respect, dedication, hard work, and honesty that it took to survive.

We have lost a lot of that in Our Country. Hard work and honesty is a forgotten virtue too many times. It is something we must teach our children, so they can teach theirs.

We must not forget the sacrifice our forefathers made for us, and that Our Troops continue to make so we may remain a Free Country!

Please "Clap" tomorrow as these World War II Veterans go by! Veterans and Guardians from around the country will fly into Washington DC, Saturday, May 9, on Honor Flights to visit the WWII Memorial and Arlington Cemetary.

Many of these Veterans have never seen the memorial, and without these Honor Flights they will never know how much their sacrifice has been appreciated!

I know I will stand Proud with tears in my eyes, as I clap proudly when I greet these Proud Veterans in Dothan. I will remember my Uncles, here and gone, that they will represent with the greatest pride as they stand with their fellow Heroes.

Shoo fly Food Screen Makeover from New to Old

Here is the picture of the one I found at Hobby Lobby they are really easy to do. Just use the toggle and remove ant hanging from chain. Make sure the hook is facing up and use a good brand primer like Krylon Primer (it primes, seals and protects) and then do underside. To make it like rust is on it use some cinnamon and seal with matte modge podge if desired.

Place on your favorite dough board, candle board, etc. Add your favorite seasonal tag all primmed up, using our Pioneer Candy label with your favorite old time candies displayed, or make your own using your graphics from Folk Art From The Harbor, and you are all set to enjoy your beautiful Shoo Them Flies Away Screen!

I thought about blue or green like the vintage colors I have seen with the glass knob tops, and even played with the idea of a flat pewter and slight rusted looking areas to look like my antique shoofly. The blue or green over a chocolate would make a gorgeous Easter grouping!!!

These are sold by Boston Warehouse Trading Corporation but I also found them on HSN by doing a search after realizing not everyone has a Hobby Lobby near them. Of course a Michael's, JoAnn's or even a home store may carry these!

If you are looking for them already done PBK sells the screens too, or you can even check out Catspawprimitives on eBay, I have bought some great dough bowls from her and she always has some great reproductions and real antiques too! She just got back from a cross country trip with a lot of new goodies too!

I have one on an antique bread board with 3 gingerbread men from Winterberry Prims, one antique one that is oval that is just a sit about that I found for a steal on eBay, and this one that hasn't figured out exactly what its place is rightly to be yet.

I think now I need a blue or green over Chocolate ... oh ... maybe even a darker blue to carry me through all year and into the 4th! I think I am going to be painting some more!

We should all step forward and contribute to our community and in turn our Nation. We are at a critical time in our Nation! We have become complacent with laziness, stealing, blaming, and making excuses. We have been failing and falling behind for many years, is it any wonder that we are in the current economic state that we are in? Own your own downfallings and shortcomings and change ... or move out of the way and let those that you have been standing in the way get past. Don't stifle them. If we spend less time on blame and more times on ourselves then we will see a more productive society.

Hold the door, say thank you, smile, wave, buy someone's coffee, help someone with their groceries! Teach your children to respect their elders; but also hold places of authority accountable. This is what checks and balances are all about!

Teach your children honesty, integrity, kindness, compassion. Make sure you are approachable for anything! SADD is a great ever-evolving organization based on the changing times, that offers support and even Contracts For Life that you and your child sign. These are great tools to aid in the communication of tough subjects with your child.

We can all make a change now .... but it has to start today ... tomorrow the road will be longer to travel back.

It is truly sad the lack of morals and integrity that many adults have these days ...and we as a nation wonder why children behave the way they do ...well I say it is the example ...or lack there of that is set before them ... when someone steals and their response is ...well others do it ...then this teaches children to steal ...not to respect others property and rights ... let our country not be destined for moral bankruptcy ... we need to stand for truth ... even in the face of adversity ....

New Year's Eve Beach Ball Drop in Panama City Beach, FL

I am late in posting Happy New Year!!! I just wanted to share this great picture that my husband took when we took our kids to the first Beach Ball Drop in Panama City Beach at Pier Park. It was sponsored by Margaritaville!! Really cool place! A lot of great fireworks and people for miles, literally ... The kids had a lot of fun and we went out for breakfast afterwards . In just a few days the kids will be back to school writing 2009 on all of their papers, and I will be putting the wrong year on everything .... LOL ... I designed this candy cane hanging pouch out of a specialty paper and added an Olde Worlde Santa picture for my Holiday Shows. I then used an aged string for hanging to add to its aged charm.Each pouch holds 8 of my handmade and grUbbied candy canes, tied with aged string and a sprig of sweet annie.

You can hang the candy canes on your tree and use pouch separately to hold a few sprigs of greenery or sweet annie and hang from a piesafe door or tuck them into your favorite nook.

My Christmas Blessings

Liberty is 1 1/2 years old and we we were blessed with her 1 week after we lost our 12 year old dog, Sasha, to cancer.

Very few. My Dad retired from the Army after 34 years; we moved on the average every 2-3 years, sometimes more often; I went to 3 high schools (Germany, Virginia, and North Carolina)

When I lived in Washington we did craft shows and sold through AAFES ... We traveled the roads making our wholesale deliveries - because all of our local accounts we delivered in person, weekly ... ;-) When we went on our deliveries, we shopped, had coffee, ate lunch, and found new stores! It was a lot of fun.

Well, Home Is Where The Army Sends Us ... and I am in Florida now ... so we email, mail, but mostly talk on the phone ... several times a day ... for a LONG time … we talk about designing, cameras, taxes, sports, dinner, kids' school, world news ... you name it ... oh yeah and Starbucks

Fall Is In The Air .... Early Dirty Corn

I just had to make some of these Early Beeswax Dirty Corn Ears with my Wagner Junior Rusty Corn Cobs 1920 antique cast iron corn muffin / bread pan that my Uncle recently gave me!!

I have aged beeswax using my special recipe and then added some special dirty, grungy paper too, and some "corn silk", and bound it all together with heavy jute!

Is It Christmas Already

I just finished this design this past weekend and wanted to share! I liked it so much I wanted to keep it, but I decided to give it to one of my wholesale customers instead! Maybe I will make myself one!!

The Little Drummer Boy is my favorite Christmas story and song. I even have an ornament from when I was a child, and it is always one of my favorites to hang on the tree.

I can't wait to watch the old Christmas movies, and drink hot cocoa and give thanks for my many blessings, because that is what Christmas is really supposed to be about ... I am blessed all year long with all the gifts that I have been given ... the gift of God, my family, and friends.

My Linebacker

This is my Football Player in his practice uniform ...this past Saturday he was a linebacker! They are the best football players I have ever watched play ... lol

Okay so its not like the good old College days in Pennsylvania in the snow (man it is hot in Florida) and watching my brother play on ESPN ...but it is my 6 year old ...and it doesn't matter what he does it is always the best play just as long as he doesn't get hurt and has fun!

A True Star: Paul Newman 1925 - 2008

I have such fond memories of watching Paul Newman through the years, what a superb actor and director. I owe this appreciation to my parents ... their love of these old shows and movies, the love that they were able to experience with their parents and have passed along to me, and in in turn to my children at 11 and 6 who enjoy the old movies -- it is always nice to be able to experience a true artist ... a rare treasure

....But what has impressed me even more has been Mr. Newman's commitment to his family and his commitment to charities. What a True Star .... all of Hollywood should learn to shine as bright as he ... you will truly be missed ... God Bless You, Your Family and Friends ....

I love the way this sign turned out!! I am finally getting the chance to work on some new things and have even remembered to take some pictures some pictures along the way. You know how time flies when you are having work!

We have just finished a Chicken Coop Cupboard that we made over the weekend to hold our growing stash of fabric. This was a great family project ... our 5 year old and 10 year old even helped us by beating the piece to give it a well-loved, timeworn appearance that we all love.
