Merry Christmas and A Blessed New Year

Primitive Olde World Air Freshener

I designed this candy cane hanging pouch out of a specialty paper and added an Olde Worlde Santa picture for my Holiday Shows. I then used an aged string for hanging to add to its aged charm. Each pouch holds 8 of my handmade and grUbbied candy canes, tied with aged string and a sprig of sweet annie.

You can hang the candy canes on your tree and use pouch separately to hold a few sprigs of greenery or sweet annie and hang from a piesafe door or tuck them into your favorite nook.

Also available as air fresheners.

These make a great item to give as a gift to yourself or someone else!
May You and Yours Have a Blessed Holiday Season!

Turkey Cupboard Print Feature

I have one more thing to be Thankful for as we head into Thanksgiving ...

My Turkey Cupboard print was featured last week on Crabmommy's blog on Conde Nast's Cookie magazine ... thank you for the feature:

http://www.cookiemag.com/magazine/blogs/crabmommy/2008/11/turkey-trimming.html

We are so excited with the response to our original cupboard prints and added another Abe print to our Etsy store, and have several more to add that were a huge hit at the Holidays in the South Bazaar!

You still have time to get your cupboard prints in time for those special gifts; and at this price you can pick up several ... for teacher's gifts, sister, mother, father ... everyone ... what better place and time to shop ... you can save gas, give a unique gift, and know that you are buying quality work from the original artist at a great price!!

Have a Very Blessed and Safe Thanksgiving!!!

Veterans Day

11 / 11/ 2008 Veterans Day

A beautiful day indeed to honor and celebrate our Veterans for their service to our country!!

Take the time to thank a Veteran for their bravery, sacrifice and dedication to our country, especially on Veterans Day and during National Veterans Awareness Week, November 9 -15 ... and remember those that have gone before them ... may the light of the Son shine brightly upon them.

The freedom of our vote is a great reminder of what is afforded to us by our Armed Forces.

Thank You For Supporting Our Troops!

Friendship Award

I received this perfect blend of friendship award from over 3000 miles away from Becca from Folk Art From The Harbor ;-)

Here are my Questions and Answers
1. Do you have the same friends since childhood?
Very few. My Dad retired from the Army after 34 years; we moved on the average every 2-3 years, sometimes more often; I went to 3 high schools (Germany, Virginia, and North Carolina)
2. What do you value most about your friends?
Honesty and Integrity.
3. Are your friends sounding boards?
Absolutely!
4. What is your favorite activity to share with friends?
Becca is my best friend ….
When I lived in Washington we did craft shows and sold through AAFES ... We traveled the roads making our wholesale deliveries - because all of our local accounts we delivered in person, weekly ... ;-) When we went on our deliveries, we shopped, had coffee, ate lunch, and found new stores! It was a lot of fun.

Well, Home Is Where The Army Sends Us ... and I am in Florida now ... so we email, mail, but mostly talk on the phone ... several times a day ... for a LONG time … we talk about designing, cameras, taxes, sports, dinner, kids' school, world news ... you name it ... oh yeah and Starbucks

Is It Christmas Already

I just finished this design this past weekend and wanted to share! I liked it so much I wanted to keep it, but I decided to give it to one of my wholesale customers instead! Maybe I will make myself one!!

The Little Drummer Boy is my favorite Christmas story and song. I even have an ornament from when I was a child, and it is always one of my favorites to hang on the tree.

I can't wait to watch the old Christmas movies, and drink hot cocoa and give thanks for my many blessings, because that is what Christmas is really supposed to be about ... I am blessed all year long with all the gifts that I have been given ... the gift of God, my family, and friends.

Vote For Andrew Cystic Fibrosis Scholarship Finalist

This is an email I received from my cousin in Georgia ... she is a teacher, and as you can tell she is very compassionate about her students .... please read Andrew's story and if you feel it in your heart vote for him ... all it takes is a click of a button ...

"Thought y'all would want to help Andrew out. For those of you who don't know, I taught Andrew in the 6th grade. He is a VERY intelligent young man. It used to bother me tremendously that Andrew was so smart, yet so sickly. I just couldn't understand why God would allow someone of such wonderful intelligence to have a dreadful disease. Well, you live and learn. Andrew has a purpose in life and it is to touch the hearts of all the people he meets. He even came back to Bainbridge and taught one year at Hutto last year. Thanks in advance for helping him out! Have a great day!"
Vicky

This is the original email she received from Andrew ...

Scholarship: Vote for Andrew Wilson!!!

On Behalf Of Andrew Wilson Sent: Tuesday, September 16, 2008 11:44 A

"Greetings,I hope this message finds you all well up in Bainbridge. I have recently moved to Gainesville, FL, where I am attending the Episcopal campus ministry here at the University of Florida. I have been very involved with the campus ministry, and it is so heartening to be involved in a very energetic, optimistic, and spiritual group of young Episcopalians. I can truly feel God's presence and see his work in the lives of the students here. :) If any of you ever find yourself driving through here on a Sunday evening (or anytime) feel free to stop by! :)

I'm emailing this to you all to announce that I am a finalist for a scholarship relating to Cystic Fibrosis! As a finalist, I am one of 40 candidates for a $10,000 scholarship to be awarded in a few weeks. The sole criterion for the scholarship is to receive the most number of votes online. I would like to ask all of you to please vote for me if/when you have the opportunity. A few things to remember about the scholarship:1. One vote per day per computer (so if you've got access to multiple computers - that's multiple votes)2. The contest continues on for 30 days, so that's 30 opportunities to vote -- remember to vote often! You can read my scholarship essay and see my creative presentation online. Please follow the below link to vote for me, and please pass this on to anyone else you feel may be willing to support me. :)

I hope and pray that all is well up in Bainbridge. Even though I'm in the Diocese of Florida now, I enjoy keeping tabs on all the goings on at St. John's Bainbridge and the DoG.

Kindest regards, Andrew Wilson"

My Linebacker

This is my Football Player in his practice uniform ...this past Saturday he was a linebacker! They are the best football players I have ever watched play ... lol
Okay so its not like the good old College days in Pennsylvania in the snow (man it is hot in Florida) and watching my brother play on ESPN ...but it is my 6 year old ...and it doesn't matter what he does it is always the best play just as long as he doesn't get hurt and has fun!

My 11 year old daughter, she is the volleyball player!

A True Star: Paul Newman 1925 - 2008

I have such fond memories of watching Paul Newman through the years, what a superb actor and director. I owe this appreciation to my parents ... their love of these old shows and movies, the love that they were able to experience with their parents and have passed along to me, and in in turn to my children at 11 and 6 who enjoy the old movies -- it is always nice to be able to experience a true artist ... a rare treasure

....But what has impressed me even more has been Mr. Newman's commitment to his family and his commitment to charities. What a True Star .... all of Hollywood should learn to shine as bright as he ... you will truly be missed ... God Bless You, Your Family and Friends ....

Thank you for visiting our Blog. Here you will see some of the places that we have traveled and lived, as well new projects that we are working on.

We have just finished a Chicken Coop Cupboard that we made over the weekend to hold our growing stash of fabric. This was a great family project ... our 5 year old and 10 year old even helped us by beating the piece to give it a well-loved, timeworn appearance that we all love.
